Khalil Dunham-Carson' Strengths and Weaknesses.
For my public speaking experiences, I learned that I am very confident. I do not need note cards or any type of notes to remember what I am talking about. I usually make strong eye contact. I might not stare at everyone, but I try my best to make it seem like I am. I do not shake my hands or get really nervous when I talk so that is another strength. I need to work on my verbal filers because I say "like" when I speak without even noticing. However, when I say like, I usually try to give an example. It is not like the typical "like" as in lack for words, but it might come off across like that. So instead, I am going to try to expand my vocabulary to correct this weakness. In addition, when I do public speaking, I usually move around to make the presentation engaging. I heard positive feedback stating that people like it when I move and talk at the same time. The body language is strong and I have a good posture and hand movements. On the other hand, people do say I move too much, which can be very distracting to the presentation.
During presentation, notice that I over prepare because I feel like the time will go by long if I do not have a lot to say, but in reality, I tend to over speak and become very repetitive. In reality, I could be more precise with the points that I am try to say. Overall, my biggest strength when I give presentations is the support of the crowd or the audience. The audience is very supportive even if I do make a mistake or feel like I made an huge error that I can't overlook. Instead, they will encourage me to go on. Also, they laugh at the points or participate at the points where I need them to, which makes my presentation more easier to deliver. Therefore, these are my strengths and weakness whenever I deliver my presentation. Hopefully, I can correct my weaknesses and make them my strengths.

Outline of Paradigm
Thesis: The major shift in television shows compared to the past television shows, in the 1990's, emphasizes the negative standards and expectations we have created as a society. The definition of "cool" and "family" has completely changed for the worse, specifically VH1 television shows.
Outline:
The shift: It occur due to the newer television illustrating: explicitness, nudity, glorification of drugs, violence, and lack of morals
Past television shows: It emphasizes the necessity of having a working job, talking as a female, solving problems in a rational way, and depicting what a good life consists of when having good morals.
Quality: Of course there was a shift in the television shows we watch compared to now and the past. However, the culture of this generation and the next generation is greatly impacted negatively due to the adverse material we watch on television. The way how men treat women changed, the way how education is viewed is changed, the way how we handle altercation is now changed, the language we use talk to other people has changed, and the list continues due to the shift of television. The shift is very potent due to the fact millions of people watch, or used to watch, television some point of their life. Even children at very young age are infatuated with television. Therefore, this shift exists, but has significance to the way how our society is shaped.
Sources: I am going to list all of the television shows that an help further my claim. These television shows should be considered popular with everyone instead of obscure. The sources contains television shows in the pas and are currently running on air today.

Technology and College
Do you remember the time when we use to write letters to communicate to our friends and family, and waited days, sometimes even weeks, to get a letter back from them? Or, do you remember looking up a word in the thick dictionary going through the alphabetical letter to find the exact word? Or my favorite, do you remember the CD walk man we use to carry to listen to music?
As society became more developed, so did our technology. Our technology became highly advanced from the way how we were living in the past. There were no iPhones, computers, or video games back then. Now, there are so many technology gadgets that technology is everywhere we go. This is highly significant because humans became so dependent on technology that we actually became less- efficient. For example, when we try to solve a math problem that requires decimals and fractions, we are so tempted to use a calculator to solve the answer instead of using our brain. In addition, when it comes to typing a paper, we use auto-correct to fix a word we do not know how to spell instead of looking at the dictionary. This impacts the culture of not only our generation, but future generations since technology caused humans to become indolent with poor work ethics.
Another major shift that occurred is the diversity in colleges. Before, there were only whites that were allowed to receive an education due to laws discriminating against other races. Because of this, the culture is greatly impacted since colleges are predominately white. Colleges will have limited culture backgrounds or experiences due to less minorities enrolling in a college. Also, it is unexpected for a minority to actually finish college. it is very common for them to drop out due to the circumstances and conditions colleges have for those of color. By dropping out, it is not particularly relating to academics, it is also referring to social aspect like culture shock. Now, the shift contains more minorities in college now. There are colleges that are historically African American, historically Latino, and more that makes the conditions or circumstances more bearable for those of colors.
In conclusion, the shift in technology and the amount of minorities in colleges are two significant paradigms since it impacts the beliefs, expectations, and conditions of our society.

Don't You Wish You Can Time Travel?
Frustrated. Angry. Livid. All of these emotions you are feeling all because you couldn't come up with the right thing to say in the heat of the moment. Don't you wish you could go back, and rewind the entire situation, and then say the right thing? For example, remember a time when you told your parents that you are getting good grades to avoid punishment, but they later found out that your grades are poor? YEAH. Now you are grounded for a week without a phone until your grades go up. These type of situations make a person retrospect the entire situation, and wish they can do the complete opposite of what they have done. This feeling I was describing is called: kairos.
Kairos is seizing the perfect opportunity for rhetoric. Perfect opportunity is usually defined as the right moment to take place. For example, the right moment when trying to persuade your parents to buy you something is when they are off for the weekend and mom takes a sip of her wine. Or when you are yelling at a friend about an argument, and you say the right thing to sway their opinion of the topic. Kairos occurs every day. We wish we can seize every opportunity, but it is feasible. So the main question is: how do we precisely execute the right moment consistently without failing?
In my opinion, the only way how to execute kairos at all times is by actually paying attention to close details. If you are being conscientious and fully aware of every single word that is occurring in an argument, debate, or conversation, then, you can easily capitalize and seize the opportunity. Therefore, it is a necessity to actually listen to what the person is saying when you are having a conversation instead of trying to generate a counterargument in return.

The Usage of Ethos
Today, I am going to talk about ethos! To those who do not know what ethos is, ethos is the appeal to credibility. For example, are you more willing to let your best friend, that gave you your money back the last time, borrow $20 over a stranger you just met? Most likely, you are going to let your best friend borrow the money since there is uncertainty that you will get the money back from the stranger. On the other hand, the best friend has a positive history with you causing that person to have a higher credibility. This makes you more reluctant to chose your best friend due to the past history you have with that person.
Another example of ethos is applying for a job. The first thing the interviewer always ask the interviewee is a resume of their past history. This is a necessity because the interviewer is not going to give a job to any random person that wants the job. The interviewee got to have some experience or credibility to prove that he or she is capable for the job.
However, credibility is not always a positive thing. For example, if you were involved in a fight with someone in school, your credibility of maintaining peace is excoriated due to the fact of you performing a violent action. Because of this, should we make decisions not based off of someone's credibility? Should we completely ignore all of the actions and decisions a person made in the past and look forward?
I think it is completely unfair to judge someone's past and previous decisions due to the simple fact that people can change. A person that has done wrong all their life can do a complete 360, and become conscientious of their decisions and attempt to ameliorate their well being. Then, there is a complete inverse. A person can be flawless, and then be exposed to the wrong environment or surroundings or a negative influence. Then, this can cause a person to do the complete opposite of what they have been doing. So, I think we need to ignore credibility and past decisions and focus on what people are now.

Two Passionate Topics that intertwine
Two possible topics that I am very passionate about are the lost of moral values and the manipulative social media. Social media is a propaganda that endorses profanity, blasphemy, violence, pornography, degrading of women, race wars, and most importantly, lost of community.
In the 1900s, females originally wore clothing that covered their arms and legs barely showing any skin. Now, females have skirts that are way above their knee caps, shirts that shows off their bellies, and more sexual attires. How do we get to this point? How do we reach a destination that is the complete inverse of everything in the past approved of? Social media. Social media had a huge outbreak in the early 2000s. Myspace, Facebook, twitter, Instagram, and more other social media's websites were used as a method of communication.
However, due to how powerful social media is, other people capitalize on this observation, and began to fill the minds of innocent children, teenagers, and adults with videos and photos that lacks morals values. There are too many videos of violence being shown. For example, fights, abusive relationships, gun posts, and more lethal weapons being used on other human beings that expresses lost of community. Then, religion. "Share this post or else you go to hell." Then, racist remarks on other people from different backgrounds like "blacks be like". Do not get me wrong, I am not oblivious to the posts or messages promoting anti bullying, anti violence, and more social problems. However, just liking the post does not do anything. This is never going to change because people are unaware that just liking a post do not create any social remedy. This is due to the major propaganda social media has on its people. We are losing are moral values. We are stepping on each other to reach our paths of success instead of aspiring others to climb with us up the mountain. Therefore, it is time for social media to stop hypnotizing the teenagers, the children, and adults. We are being brain washed to a point where we become dependent on social media to resolve conflicts and personal issues.
